London is a world capital of culture, heritage and creativity, with a metropolitan population of more than eight million residents. As a thriving, urban and multi-national city, living in London is something everyone should experience. Our campus is based in the Royal borough of Greenwich, just 20 minutes outside of London City Centre. Greenwich is a vibrant and interesting area that is popular with students and home to many museums cafes and shops. The area is also home to Greenwich Park, one of the venues of for the London games.

Bellerbys College London social Activities
Bellerbys College London believe that it is important for our students to have an active and enjoyable stay whilst at Bellerbys London and we are always looking for new ways to develop and expand the range and variety of activities available. In particular we are keen to encourage our students to tell us what they want to do and what new activities they’d like to see take place. We then do our best to support those students as much as possible and our Extra-Curricular Activities Coordinator is always on-hand to help start-up new clubs and societies.
Clubs and weekly events
At Bellerbys London we have a student-run Student Union, modelled on similar organisations at most British universities. With the help of the Extra-Curricular Activities Coordinator, the Union oversees many of the colleges regular weekly activities. This provides a forum for students to get together to set up and run clubs and societies for themselves and other students.
We have a large number of clubs and societies, most of which meet once a week after school, including the Economics Club, the Dance Club, the Philosophy Club, the Film Society, the Games Club and the Debating Society, just to mention a few! Some of these clubs have been running for several years already, others are new this year, and we hope even more clubs will be set up in the future. One very important aspect of our extra-curricular programme is our Charity Club whose members work hard to raise money for the school’s nominated charity, Plan International, to help build schools in poor communities across the world. The Charity Club organises a range of fundraising events throughout the year and all the money raised by such events is doubled by StudyGroup International, the parent company of Bellerbys College.
As well as organising the clubs and societies, the Bellerbys London Student Union produces a regular newsletter and to mark the end of each academic year produces a student year book and organises the end of year graduation ball. All these activities are student-led so that our students have a real say in what happens at their college.
Bellerbys College London are also keen for our students to have the opportunity to learn new languages if they want to and so we also arrange for lessons in French and Spanish to take place within the school after classes finish. This year has also seen the introduction of a new Japanese Club which aims to give students and staff the chance to learn basic Japanese.
Students at Bellerbys London also have access to regular sporting activities. We are fortunate to be close to Greenwich Park, a beautiful and popular Royal Park and an ideal place to play sports, particularly during the summer when regular football matches are organised for our students. Greenwich Park is also well-equipped with tennis courts and a brand new 25 metre swimming pool has recently been opened just a few minutes walk from Bellerbys College, ensuring that our students have easy access to a range of sports and leisure facilities. We also have a Basketball Club which meets once a week to play at an indoor facility near to Bellerbys College.

Challenges and Competitions at Bellerbys College London
As well as taking part in clubs and societies, at Bellerbys London we also encourage students to take part in both external and internal competitions and challenges. We run our own essay-writing competitions in both Economics and Business Studies, which aim to help students improve their knowledge and understanding of these subjects, whilst the Mathematics department posts a weekly maths challenge designed to introduce our students to new and interesting areas of maths.
Students from Bellerbys London also take part in a range of national competitions including the Young Enterprise Challenge (where students get the opportunity to set up their own business), the Young Economist of the Year essay-writing competition, the annual Corpus Christi College essay-writing competitions (Corpus Christi is a college of the University of Cambridge), the British Maths Olympiad and the Senior Team Maths Challenge.
At Bellerbys London we encourage students to take part in any competition which interests them and we are always happy to get involved in new ones if students want to. Our attitude is that students should take part and enjoy themselves but that if a student is really determined to succeed in a national competition then we will support them as much as possible, and there really is no limit to what you can achieve – just take a look at our ex-student Thien Phung from Vietnam who recently won the second round of the British Maths Olympiad!
Social Programme at Bellerbys College London
Bellerbys London also organises a full social programme of activities for students and staff which includes visits to top West End theatre productions, excursions to other parts of the UK, big sporting events and trips to major London attractions. The social programme runs all year round and ensures that fun and interesting activities take place throughout the week and at weekends.
London’s West End is one of the world’s most famous theatre districts and our students benefit from the easy access to world-class theatre that our location offers. Recent events have included visits to see famous musicals such as Lion King, Phantom of the Opera, Mamma Mia and Billy Elliot, as well as plays such as the 39 Steps and England People Very Nice, and our social programme aims to ensure that students have access to a range of theatrical experiences.
London is also home to some of the most famous sports teams in the world – not to mention Wembley ‘the home of football’. Throughout the season the social programme provides opportunities to see Premiere League football teams such as Arsenal and Chelsea play at home as well as international fixtures played at Wembley.
Other activities include visits to world-class museums and galleries such as the Tate Modern and the British Museum, and famous attractions such as Madame Tussaud’s and the London Eye. There are many attractions just a short distance from the college too. One can see concerts at the O2 Arena, take a walking tour of historic East London or even take a boat cruise along the River Thames and much, much more!
Student Year Book
A small but dedicated group of students in our London college got together this year to form a Student Union and to create the first ever Bellerbys Year Book, complete with photographs, wishes and thoughts from all students at the college.
Overseen by Sara Bewes, Extra-Curricular Activities Coordinator, the group consisted of Anna Linetskaya (Creative Director), Julia Mitryaeva (Art Director), Megi Ivanova (Chairman), Sebi Zykaj (Copywriter) and Jirarat Chirativataka Sign (Computer Techie).
Anna Linetskaya described the project as being an unforgettable experience. "Being part of the Year Book Crew is an unforgettable experience: you meet new people, communicate with them and you understand that you have made so many new friends. The best part of the whole process was observing how other people get involved in a project that you have created. Our first Year Book is a product of great team work, because every student of Bellerbys College London participated in the creation of it!"
