Juniors who are passionate about windsurfing, kayaking and raft-building now have the chance to complement their English course with 3 afternoon watersports sessions.

Course Contents

09:00-12:30, 5 days a week: This course includes 15 hours of General English a week. We work with a specific short course syllabus, concentrating on the four main skills - speaking, listening, reading and writing.

We aim to improve young learners' confidence in the English language as quickly as possible. As well as these four main skills we will also work on other key areas to help develop fluency and accuracy - pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, idioms.

14:00-16:00: 3 afternoon sessions of watersports per week.

The magnificent Ardingly Reservoir is located within the school campus and only a 10 minute walk through attractive woodland.

Our watersports option includes tuition by experienced instructors from the Ardingly Activity Centre - a recognised Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and British Canoe Union (BCU) centre. The centre is also registered with the Adventurous Activities Authority (AALA) which means that it is regularly inspected for standards of instruction, facilities, equipment, and staffing.

Accommodation is provided in comfortable single, twin and a few 3-4 bedded rooms, with adjoining shared bathroom facilities on every floor. The two houses are equipped with a fantastic common room with TV, DVD, sofas and a games room, providing a great atmosphere for students to relax, practise their English skills and get to know each other. At busy periods we may sometimes organise male and female students by floor.

Students do not have a key to their rooms. However, all valuables (passports, tickets, money etc) are given to the course director who will lock them in a safe. We also suggest students bring a small padlock as there is a lockable drawer in each room. Visiting group leaders and staff are normally allocated a single room with a key.
