STUDY ENGLISH IN THE UK'S SOUTH COAST STUDENT CITY
Our school is a friendly medium sized school located just on the edge of the city centre and right next to the residential area where our homestay is located.
LTC Brighton have between 60 and 260 students depending on the season and the school has an excellent mix of students from many different countries studying with us – 40% are normally from Europe, 15% from Asia, 35% from Latin America and 10% from other countries and areas of the world.
LTC Brighton teaching staff is experienced and our permanent teaching staff have postgraduate and Masters degree qualifications in teaching English and an average of 20 years’ experience. All our other teachers have at least the Cambridge CELTA qualification. Many of our teachers have years of experience and a number of them are also examiners for the Cambridge, IELTS and Trinity examinations.
Our school has 18 classrooms and a capacity of 210 students, or 260 in the summer, when we hire extra classrooms near the school.
LTC Brighton can offer host family accommodation within easy walking distance of the school, and is only 15 minutes by bus from the city centre and 8 minutes walk from the beach.
Our administration staff are experienced, helpful and efficient and will help make your stay in England successful on an educational and personal level.

LTC Brighton Location
LTC Brighton is located in the western part of Brighton and Hove, in one of the main residential areas of the city. This means our host families are very close to the school, normally within 25 minutes walking distance.
LTC Brighton’s location combines the best of local services, access to the city centre and access to accommodation. We are located a 10-15 minute bus ride from the heart of Brighton.
LTC Brighton is close to a local shopping area called George Street, which has all the shops and facilities needed for everyday living including banks, pharmacies, cafes, bars, mobile telephone shops, travel agents and exchange bureaus.
We are right beside one of the nicest residential zones in the city in an area named “Poets’ Corner”. We can usually arrange host family accommodation which is between 2 and 25 minutes walking distance from the school.
Sometimes during the busy summer season it can be a little further but no more than a 15 minute bus journey to school. This means you save time and money staying with an LTC host family.
There are many other facilities and attractions close to LTC. The beach is only 8 minutes walk away, with the lovely Hove lawns seafront promenade only 12 minutes away. Hove railway station, which has direct services to central London is only 10 minutes walk away. There is also a bus stop right outside the school with buses to the city centre every 4 minutes during the day time and every 15 minutes at night.

LTC Brighton has a wide range of facilities and resources for you to use to study, relax and enjoy yourself, including a large common room, patio garden, listening centre and computer room.
LTC Brighton Classrooms
LTC Brighton have 18 classrooms at the school. These include large rooms for general teaching and rooms for smaller classes and one-to-one tuition. All rooms have tables and comfortable chairs, cassette/CD players and the larger rooms have televisions and DVD players. We also have data projectors and OHP projectors for use in classrooms. In the student lounge there is a data projector and a cinema system.
LTC Brighton Student Library
Our student library has many different types of study materials – books, readers, exam revision materials, videos etc.. You are welcome to study in here after class.
LTC Brighton Listening Centre/Language Lab
The listening centre has hundreds of audiotapes and CDs to help you practise your listening skills. All of our classes have at least one lesson here each week, and the centre is available in the afternoons for self-study until 5 p.m. everyday.

LTC Brighton Computer Centre/WiFi access
We have 13 PCs with free access to the internet, free printing, support for different languages, messenger software and Skype. You can borrow headsets from the school office. The school also has free WIFI access if you have a laptop or smartphone.
LTC Brighton Student Lounge
Our student lounge has lots of comfortable seats, a TV and DVD player, a pool table and games to play. This is where you can find lots of information about local special offers, places of interest, activities and excursions. It also has a cinema screen we use for films and Wii competitions.

We have a small kitchen where you can prepare your own lunches and an area leading off it where you can sit and eat.
LTC Brighton Garden and BBQ Area
The school has a large patio garden which we use for parties and BBQs. You can also hold your own BBQs with permission.
LTC Brighton Low Cost Gym membership at LA Fitness
We can also offer our students access to the LA Fitness gym in Hove which has a gym, exercise classes, a swimming pool as well as tennis and squash courts.

Accommodation in LTC Brighton
At LTC Brighton we recognise that having good accommodation is one of the most important parts of your stay in the UK. There are three types of accomodation.

LTC Brighton is able to offer good quality homestay accommodation, which is normally within easy walking distance of the school. Many other schools in Brighton cannot.
In the summer time we can also offer a student residence at the University of Sussex. We can recommend several hotels and guest houses within walking distance or a short bus ride from the school.

LTC Brighton can also provide information and advice about living in a rented flat, sharing a house with other students or renting a holiday apartment. However, we cannot arrange this kind of accommodation for you.

You can choose homestay or private home accommodation in Brighton and Hove. We recommend homestay as the best way to experience British life and culture and to practise your English.
Homestay is normally no more than 25 minutes walking distance from the school or a short bus ride. This is something many schools in Brighton cannot offer.
The standards of homestay accommodation are high. The hosts are kind and friendly, the houses and flats are clean and warm and the majority of the families are less than 25 minutes walk from the school. This means you can save up to £16 on transport costs each week while you are with us.
LTC Brighton want you to feel at home, so if there are any problems you can always talk to our Accommodation Officer. You will have a single room and there is a maximum of 4 students per family and they will not speak the same language as you. We want you to speak English as much as possible outside the school. All hosts are asked to follow the English UK code of practice.
We also offer private home accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis for students who want more independence.
Your bedroom will have:
1) A comfortable bed – at least standard size
2) A wardrobe and a chest of drawers
3) A mirror
4) A table, chair and lamp for studying (not always available for short term students at busy times)
The room will be cleaned at least once a week, and you will have fresh bed linen and towels every week.
Food at your accommodation:
Our host family accommodation normally is half-board, you will receive breakfast and an evening meal every day. On school days, you can buy lunch from one of the cafes or shops next to the school.

LTC Brighton Student Residences (SUMMER ACCOMMODATION)
LTC Brighton works with the University of Sussex to offer high quality residence accommodation in the summer season from late June to mid-September.
During the summer months we offer students accommodation at the residences of the University of Sussex.
We have a standard residence where bathroom facilities are shared, and a superior residence where bathroom are en-suite to the bedrooms. The residences are self-catering and suitable for students aged 18+
1) Shared kitchen and common areas
2) Shared bathrooms in ‘standard’ residence and en-suite in ‘superior’ rooms
3) Single study bedroom with bed, desk, wardrobe, storage areas
4) On-campus shops, snack bar, launderette, medical centre and bars
The residences are located approximately 25 minutes by train from the school. LTC operates a shuttle bus service between the campuses and the school in the mornings.

Social Programme at LTC Brighton
LTC Brighton offers a wide range of social and leisure activities in the afternoons and evenings each week as well as excursions around the UK and Europe at the weekends.
An average weekly programme might include a visit to a local place of historical interest, a visit to a sports centre for bowling or tennis and something fun like a visit to a restaurant or an English pub.
We also offer a wide range of excursions around the UK and to Europe. We work in partnership with specialist international student travel agency UK Study Tours "www.ukstudytours.com" to provide a great choice to keep you busy.

Costs: some activities are free, some cost £3-£4 and where there are admissions charges (e.g. Lewes Castle) these are between £6-£8. Students pay for their own local transport.
